President and Founder, Jim Collis, brings 40 years of expertise in the field of design, tool and die, engineering, and business management in advancing SON Manufacturing Company with integrity and customer service. Highest quality craftsmanship and service was his top priority.
Jim designed this instrument from the original found in an archeological in 1965 in upstate NY.
We manufacture and assemble every component except the glass and printing of compass rose. Made in USA.
Since 1978, SON Manufacturing Company has been making the hand-polished, solid brass 1750 Sundial Compass, an 18th century reproduction. While its first 10 years were specialized service to historical re-enactors of French and Indian War and Revolutionary War periods, we have continued to reach out to Renaissance, Scottish Highland Games and Civil War time-lines, living history museums, museum gift shops of natural history, maritime, tourist, for children and art galleries. It is of the uttmost importance that our Early American History be passed on from generation to generation.
